CHANHASSEN, Minn. – Lakeside Insurance Brokers is excited to announce it has won a Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Award. The Make More Happen Award recognizes 66 independent insurance agencies across the country that demonstrate extraordinary volunteerism for a nonprofit organization.

As part of the award, Safeco will donate $4,000 to The Open Hands Foundation on behalf of Lakeside Insurance. The Open Hands Foundation will also have an opportunity to earn an additional $1,000 when its story is featured on Safeco.com in October. If 50 different individuals leave a positive comment, or “cheer”, the Foundation will receive the extra donation, bringing the total to $5,000.

“We’re proud to partner with such dedicated agents across the country, and we’re pleased to recognize them for their selfless work,” said Safeco® President Matt Nickerson. “It’s an honor to support and encourage those who share our belief in the importance of community.”

The Open Hands Foundation helps to identify the most pressing needs in the Twin Cities Southwest Metro Area – currently supporting the Bridge for Youth – Southwest, an emergency shelter for youth ages 10-17 who are in crisis. Additional services including a 24-hour crisis hotline and counseling for youth, parents and families are also provided.

“We love being part of this community and supporting the Open Hands Foundation,” said Brock Fluegge, President of Lakeside Insurance. “As new parents and members of the business community, it’s important for us [Becky and I] to work with an organization that is making a lasting difference for the youth in crisis right in our own backyard.”
